Alan Duffin
Following a get-together over a few beers, Alan and a couple of friends in Devon England, made a decision to see the world.
They arrived in Melbourne in 1967, and Australia became home. Arthur and Jim stayed in Melbourne and raised their families. Alan decided to see more of Australia and travelled north, finding work in a sugar mill. On returning to Melbourne, he met and married his much-loved Margaretha, and raised a wonderful daughter, Tracey.
However, after seven years in Victoria, it was time to move on. Following three and a half years running a PO general store in NSW, they settled on the Gold Coast.
Since semi-retiring some twenty years ago, Alan and Margaretha have travelled around the entire coast of Australia towing a caravan and also ventured into the incredible outback.
These days, Alan and Margaretha are enjoying life in a lifestyle village at Beachmere, north of Brisbane.
